Behind The Dragon

Our Story
Hey there, we would like to introduce ourselves. We are Liam and Dan, two cousins who have dreamt of building something special. This has led us to create Pendraig, a Premium Welsh Rum.
We set out to make a rum that is created using authentic welsh ingredients - smooth enough to enjoy neat, on the rocks, or as a delicious centrepiece of your favourite cocktail.
We have put our heart and soul into every aspect of creating Pendraig, from perfecting the design of the bottle, to blending classic rum-making with Welsh spirit. Pendraig is all about quality, with a nod to the landscapes and traditions of Wales.
For us, Pendraig isn't just a bottle of rum. We saw an opportunity to create something modern and unique that reflects our passion for Wales and bringing people together.

Crafting Pendraig
When choosing the name Pendraig, we were keen to combine a nod to our hometown, Penarth, as well as our strong sense of Welsh pride. Penarth, translates to Head of the Bear. We decided to put a spin on this and what greater symbol of Wales than the dragon itself. This was how Pendraig was born. Pendraig, meaning Head of the Dragon, or Chief Dragon. A strong reflection of Welsh pride whichever translation you choose, I'm sure you'd agree.
Born in the sun-drenched Caribbean and perfected in the historic cellars of Hensol Castle Distillery, this Spiced Rum is an exquisite fusion of heritage and craftsmanship.
Our journey begins in the Dominican Republic, where expert distillers transform the world’s richest molasses into a luxuriously smooth rum, distilled five times to an exceptional purity of 95%. This refined spirit then travels across the Atlantic to Wales, where it undergoes a sixth and final distillation at Hensol Castle—a site steeped in centuries of history and home to some of the finest distillers in the country.
Infused with Madagascan vanilla pods, cinnamon, fresh lime peel, cocoa, and cardamom, our Spiced Rum is blended with the purest Welsh spring water, locally sourced honey, and a touch of Anglesey sea salt to create a deep, complex character with a velvety finish. A final kiss of caramel delivers its rich, golden hue—bold, smooth, and irresistibly indulgent.
Experience the perfect balance of tropical warmth and Welsh craftsmanship in every sip.
